Yoga

At The Lotus Retreat we run daily yoga classes with a variety of styles ranging from Hatha to Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow.

Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced yogi there is something for everyone. Just pop in and we will discuss your needs and the best class for you.

We keep class sizes to a maximum of 10 to ensure that all students have the full focus of their teacher and enough space to move freely.

We like to call yoga at the Lotus Retreat “luxury yoga” because of the beauty of the space (always warm, candlelit and filled with aroma of natural oils) and the nurturing attention you will receive. During the summer the patio doors can be opened onto the courtyard offering light and air. You are welcome to stay and enjoy browsing the boutique or enjoying a treatment. We believe yoga at the Lotus Retreat is something a little more special that your average yoga class which is why so many of our students have stayed with us throughout the years.

Jen Mills

“Movement is the gift of life and we should cherish, honor and celebrate it”.

Jen has always been passionate about movement and has been drawn to dance, theatre and gymnastics. Jen discovered yoga in her late teens and was hooked from her very first class. After completing her Theatre degree in 2009 she packed her bags and travelled to Kerala, India to further explore her love of yoga.  She gained an international yoga teaching qualification from the Sivananda Yoga Ashram in India, where she undertook an intense training regime.   

Jen has established a unique style of teaching which incorporates her passion for flow and movement, including long vinyasa inspired sequences.  Alongside this, Jen provides a nurturing approach to teaching and a supportive environment to allow student’s to deepen their practice. As a qualified massage therapist, Jen uses her skills to soothe, enhance and treat her student’s while in yoga postures. Jen’s most recent endeavor is her Masters degree in Osteopathy. Jen’s ultimate aim is to combine her yoga and osteopathy to provide a deeper insight into the wonders of the body, movement and healing.

Sheryl Louise Pratt

“Yoga for me is a science of the mind. My practice is a continuous opportunity to get to know myself deeply, to live with purpose & learn self-mastery. Releasing me from the stories in my head & allowing me to heal, renew & create.”

Sheryl’s classes aim to bridge the gap between yoga asana & yoga philosophy with a strong emphasis on self-enquiry, healing & personal growth. She believes passionately that yoga is for everybody. After completing her 200h Wild Vibrant Yoga Hatha Vinyasa Flow training with Deborah Curtis, she continued her training with Diane Bondy & Amber Karnes as an Adaptive Yoga For All Teacher. Needing to adapt her own practice to heal an injury, she then continued training as a Yin Yoga Teacher and Restorative Yoga Teacher. Sheryl started her yoga teaching as a Children's Yoga Teacher (Yoga Bananas 3-11 certified) & teaches yoga to children in schools with SEMH needs. As an Adaptive Yoga Teacher, she also teaches in workplace settings offering bespoke classes & workshops as well as privately one-one.

Catherine Bailey

Catherine is a Hatha yoga teacher and Mindfulness meditation teacher. She offers Mindful Yoga classes and courses at The Lotus Retreat.

Mindful Yoga is the integration of Hatha yoga and mindfulness meditation, merging both into a single practise. In Catherine's classes she promotes mind/body awareness, relaxation and nurturing inner peace. 

Catherine offers a range of beginner classes and complete beginner yoga and mindfulness courses for people who have never done yoga before but would like to try, and for beginner's who wish to develop their practise further.  These are designed to support student’s individual needs, and are held at a slower pace of learning to help build strength, flexibility, awareness and confidence.

Catherine is passionate about health and wellness, recognising the importance of movement and relaxation to achieve wellbeing. Catherine also acknowledges the importance of deep relaxation to calm the nervous system and the mind.

Hari Lambani

Hari grew in south India where he was fortunate enough to experience yoga and a deep sense of spirituality as part of his daily life. His self practice deepened when he went through a time of great change and uncertainty in his life and he found yoga to be a wonderful gift to reclaim clarity of mind, body and soul. He undertook his yoga teacher training in the holy town of Gokarna with eminent teacher Hari Pawally where he focused on the ancient system of Hatha and also Ashtanga. Hari is passionate about all aspects of yoga - including pranayama (breathwork), meditation and spiritual awareness. Hari’s classes are infused with fun and acceptance: he welcomes everyone to start or continue their yoga journey with him.

Nataša Andrewes

“Yoga is teaching me to live in the present moment, mindfully! I believe that kindness and gratitude equal freedom!”

Nataša is known for her authentic, kind and non-judgemental teaching style.

In her classes she cultivates a safe space where pregnant students feel included, heard, seen and be themselves. Her playful nature makes her class fun as well as relaxing.

With her students she explores postures or asanas that help the body adjust to changes, increase strength, bring back flexibility and comfort to muscles and joints. She focuses on breathing techniques that calm the mind and relax the body and helps students build their pelvic floor strength to carry their baby or babies more comfortably.

Her values of making yoga inclusive, accessible, nurturing and transformative shine through each lesson she teaches.

After completing her 200hr Spiralling Crow Vinyasa teacher training at Yoga Venue in Oxford, she followed her passion and continued to train as a pregnancy and post-natal yoga teacher at Yoga Quota in Oxford.

Nataša loves growing, cooking and eating food. She spends most of her free time outside with her son Yann and husband Justin. Born in Slovenia, she still returns often to enjoy hiki
